Blurred images and a roughness is an effect.
When I worked in the travel agent, I offered to produce some templates on the computer for their “offers” to save them writing them out. they didn’t want them, as they said psychologically, the sight of felt tip ink on paper indicates a rushed promotion and they sold better. The rawness of the sight assisted with their aim.
Same is true here, the blurred edges enhance the image and the story being told.
