I really like Valentine’s Day. Even though I’ve been single for most of my life (and when I was with someone, they refused to participate in the holiday) I’ve always loved the romance and the gushy messages and the flowers and the chocolate.
As a kid, I loved making valentine boxes and writing notes to all my classmates. I still send valentines to friends and family. I buy valentines for myself. I collect vintage valentine cards. There’s just something about cupids and cherubs and silly valentine puns that make me happy every year.
Chocolate also makes me happy. Especially pretty chocolate where you don’t know what you’ll get until you take a bite. (Caramel is grand, but I’m also quite fond of toffee and coconut creme).

I love your joy about Valentine… I admit I like the idea of it but I hate all the commercial stuff and the fact that flowers are twice their normal price.

As someone who never received cards or gifts on Valentine’s I grew to hate it. Although the commercialisation is awful I would love to receive some flowers especially roses but I know it’ll never happen.
