There was a hashtag going around Twitter a few days ago, #wrapmeinlights, and some of the photos that came out of it were truly lovely. I didn’t get this taken in time for the day, but was inspired nonetheless.
This image is also an entry for Exhibit A’s Awesome Christmas Erotica meme for the Day 18 song “Silent Night.” It’s one of my favorite Christmas songs as it always reminds me of Christmas Eve service in my hometown church.
At the service, everyone is handed an unlit candle as they walk in. At the end, all the lights in the church are turned off, leaving only the advent candles and the Christmas tree lit. Then one candle is lit from the advent candles and the flame is passed from person to person, down the pews, as we all sing Silent Night, a cappella. It’s really, really lovely.
The light in this photo reminds me of the way people are just slightly illuminated as the candle flame is passed. (Of course, they are less naked than I am here, though wouldn’t that be interesting?)
